Urban Freight Baseline and Action Plan for Panaji
The project involves collection of primary and secondary data to establish a baseline for urban freight and logistics related emissions in the city of Panaji, Goa, India. This study is being undertaken as a part of the global Eco-Logistics project. The study established current freight demand in terms of total freight trips, total kg-km and total trips by freight mode, by commodity and by link. The links in the freight chain covered were- to the wholesaler, wholesaler to retailer, retailer to home and home to waste. The findings have been presented both for end-to-end journey of freight i.e., including distance covered outside city boundary, and also only for distance covered within the city boundary. Also, as a part of this project collected data was analysed to suggest interventions that can be taken up as a pilot project and to propose a low carbon urban freight action plan. Activities performed as a part of this study include primary data collection, data analysis, framing of recommendations/interventions and development of an intervention action plan.
